Lee Ross growing up was encouraged to explore the outside natural world. This curiosity and respect for nature has been a large part of his life. The son of a licensed journeyman, Lee grew up with a love of working with his hands. He combined these two passions and started his very own woodworking company, RLS Woodwork LLC.
He first began woodworking at the age of five years old. The earliest work of his recollection was when he built his first jewelry box in his father's shop, where his passion began. Lee continued on with his love of woodworking and eventually turned it into a career. To gain a fuller understanding of nature’s ecosystems and the resource he loved he served as an intern under various professionals and apprenticeship programs in cabinet shops. He cherished this great opportunity to learn hands on skills as a woodworker, and gain a deeper understanding of the art of woodworking. The first concept Lee designed and custom built was at the age of 26, a writing desk. Up to that point he had been crafting other's designs. There was a large sense of accomplishment at creating and implementing his own design.
RLS Woodworks began with a simple plan to build quality solid wood doors, cabinetry and furniture. In 2012, the opportunity for Lee to open up RLS Woodworks was born. The goals were to provide the best possible quality in custom craftsmanship, to operate with honesty and integrity, to offer premium custom work at an affordable cost, to efficiently use the resources available, and provide customers with a direct line of communication. These are still our core goals today.
RLS Woodwork business model relies on building a solid relationship with its customers and by knowing word of mouth is the best form of advertising. Lee says “…our customers and clients are looking for something unique. A unique experience, a direct connection with the craftsman, a chance to share their ideas and be a part of the design process, the feeling of trusting that the woodworking they have purchased is real quality and something they are proud of. Our goal is to provide each and every customer with an enriching experience they will want to share with their neighbors, family, and friends.”
